Shuttle Launch From Atop Our HOuseboat!

A Most-unique experience as tonight we stood atop a houseboat on Lake Beresford (St. John's River near DeLand, FL) and watch Endeavour leap into the sky.We are vacationing on a houseboat and climbed to the top deck to watch.

I shot the picture with my 6.1 Kodak....using night settings. (Click the pic to see the larger version!)

St. John's River - Part 2

Now, some of us are dedicated fishermen!......Duchess was out the 2nd day in her bathrobe, fishing off the back deck of "Sturgeon", our vessel.....Still in her PJs.
Then we have a picture of "Duke", the Capt of Sturgeon.....At the helm, not shaving, and trying his best to look like Earnest Hemingway!!!!

OK!
So I am NOT Hemingway.....Who is!

We are having a ball, and pics will follow!

St. John's River

On the St. John's River....on a houseboat....out of Holly Bluff Marina in DeLand, Florida. Here is a pic of the shoreline of our 1st morning at 'Catfish Bend"....
Gorgeous, and here is our houseboat (actually a sister-ship). We are enjoying, and I'll have a lot more to send.

This is a marvelous week.

Nother Trip....Nother Trip Mode!

This is an event we have wished for over at least three or four years.

We are going to depart next Sunday on a one-week houseboat trip. We launch at DeLand, Florida from Holly Hills Marina. We will be on a 45 foot houseboat. Duchess and I will be joined by a couple from our Elks Lodge and we will boat-fish-enjoy for our week which we actually had to book a year-plus in advance.

The two-bedroom, fully-equipt vessel will be ours for a 30-40 mile trip on the St. John's River. We tonight planned some menu items, and listed what we need to take for the successful voyage.

Our trip will begin Sunday with a class which will educate us to the controls and quirks of our vessel. I am to be Captain......after all I am a former Coxswain in the Coast Guard Auxiliary. Duchess and I had a 27 foot flybridge sportfisher. Now a larger vessel, but in MUCH calmer waters.

I'll post pics as we go......

Bon Voyage!
